Bio
Catalina Auguste is an artist based in Toronto. She studied experimental animation and social sciences at OCAD U and graduated in 2026. Her work explores memory, emotion, and personal storytelling, often drawing from her own lived experiences to reflect on childhood and the lasting impact of difficult relationships.
Her practice is grounded in honesty and vulnerability, with a strong focus on 2D animation and character-driven work. She is especially drawn to the emotional weight that characters can carry, using them to express feelings that are sometimes difficult to put into words.
Catalina is interested in creating work that feels good to make and to experience, whether that be through colour, movement, or depicting quiet, intimate moments. She values play, softness, and the simple joy of creating. Through her work, Catalina revisits formative moments from her past while also leaving room for lightness and connection. She aims to create pieces that not only tell stories, but allow people to feel something real within them.
